Carlow’s newest county councillor is calling for a women’s refuge to be set up in the county.
Andrea Dalton will fill the position left vacant by Ann Ahern and will take her seat on the council in October’s meeting.
Currently there’s a hostel for men in the town but no facilities for homeless women or victims of domestic violence.
She says women have to travel to Kilkenny and beyond which is not ideal in this day and age.
