A Carlow shop has been named a finalist for the Ireland’s Greenest Places 2026 awards.
Siopa Glas in Ballon, which is a volunteer-run thrift shop and environmental hub is one of just 11 nominees selected from close to 90 entries nationwide.

Running in the “Greenest Community” category, all proceeds from the shop fund vital village enhancements, including biodiversity studies, nature walks, and school polytunnels.
The final winners are announced on the weekend of October 2nd.
