It was a big day for a local woman yesterday who was presented with a special medal on her 103rd birthday.
May Morris, originally from Castledermot in Kildare, now lives in Hillview Nursing Home in Carlow.
Her 76-year-old daughter Rose flew over from Australia for the occasion and speaking to KCLR Live this morning, she said a medal was presented to her mother as part of the 1916 commemorations.
