The Centenary of the formation of the Carlow Sugar Company is to be marked next week.
Mayor Paul Doogue is set to host an event of talk and slides at the Seven Oaks Hotel from 7:30pm on Wednesday, 29th April.
The Carlow town Fine Gael representative himself worked at the local business and was among the 190 employees on site when it closed 80 years after it began production.
Many other local families too are likely to have stories to share so the gathering is sure to be a highlight.
