Checkpoints across Carlow & Kilkenny from midnight to enforce Level 3

Local Gardai says they will be setting up checkpoints across Carlow and Kilkenny from midnight to enforce the new level 3 restrictions.

Operation Fanacht which we last saw during the lockdown is being reintroduced and if you are travelling outside your own county for non-essential purposes they say you will be turned back.

The Garda Commissioner is insisting they do not need additional powers to police level three restrictions.

And Roads Policing Inspector Anthony Farrell says the operation will be up an running locally from 12 tonight.
