A US official has reportedly moved to debunk claims made by a Kilkenny man detained by ICE in Texas.
Glenmore native Seamus Culleton has been held since last September despite having lived stateside for more than 20 years and having a work permit and being in the final stages of securing a green card.
He’s likened his location to a “modern-day concentration camp” describing horrible conditions while family members on KCLR have outlined concerns for him. (listen back to those here).
However, a spokesperson for the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has now said in a statement to the Press Association “These claims that there are subprime conditions at Ice facilities are false.
Meanwhile, a fundraiser launched to help Seamus has now generated more than $25,000 – details of that here.
Stay tuned for more as we continue to follow this story on News & The KCLR Daily.
