Clinic for male victims of domestic violence opens for first time in Kilkenny today

From today, for the first time a national charity for men affected by domestic violence will be holding monthly clinics in Kilkenny.

Amen Support Services say this is the first time their service will be available outside of the Dublin and Meath areas.

Local men will be able to get advice on a large number of issues, including guardianship and custody of children, and the information will be provided free of charge on a one-to-one basis.

It will be based in the Father McGrath Centre on St Joseph’s Road in Kilkenny.

Speaking to KCLR News, Manager Niamh Farrell says domestic violence can be an especially difficult subject for men.
