Carlow have announced Marty Kavanagh and James Doyle as joint-captains for the 2025 season, and the team began their Allianz League Division 1B campaign with a solid performance, earning a draw against Offaly in Tullamore on Saturday.
Speaking after the game, Kavanagh told KCLR’s Brendan Hennessy, “It was a good result. We could have won it too, but we could have lost it. Probably years ago, we would have lost, so again, nice to get a result out of it. It’s a great league, competitive, great games to look forward to, and will only improve our lads as well, and that’s all you want.”
Tom Mullally’s side now turn their attention to Waterford, who visit Netwatch Cullen Park this Sunday at 2 PM. Fans can catch all the action live on KCLR’s Carlow frequency. KCLR caught up with Mullally after the game who was full of praise for his players;
“Obviously the players are the most important part of this because they want to play for Carlow and want to represent their families, their clubs and stuff like that. And we’ll have to take knocks at certain times and stuff like that. The players stick together, the group sticks together as such and we’re kind of trying to improve. I think year on year we’ve kind of tried to do that and the players have responded to that.”
