Concern for Dan Morrissey workers as company goes to court to seek examinership

Up to a hundred workers at Dan Morrisseys in Carlow are meeting at the plants headquarters in Bennekerry this morning amidst concerns for the future of the business.

KCLR news understands the company has gone to court this morning in the hopes of having an examiner appointed.

The Bennekerry and Clonmelsh sites are both under lock and key this morning with security present.

160 people are employed by the company across the Carlow sites.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Michael Doran says its very worrying while Fianna Fail’s Arthur McDonald says it would be a disaster if the company goes.

It’s understood the receiver is to meet with union officials at the site this morning.
