Concerns that Ducketts Grove is being left to crumble

There have been calls for Carlow County Council to engage with the OPW to restore Duckett's Grove

Carlow’s ‘jewel in the crown’ could be left to crumble.

There have been calls for Carlow County Council to engage with the OPW to restore Duckett’s Grove.

Councillor Fergal Browne told KCLR that the safety work carried out at the site last year is no longer adequate.

He said there are grants available that the council could apply for to restore the popular local amenity:

“The safety work we did in recent years, unfortunately now, is no longer adequate, and the building is not safe to even walk around, and if we don’t do anything, there are dangers of the buildings crumbling. So it is vital that we restore the building in my view and preserve it, I am aware there are grants available from the National World Monument Scheme that we could apply for, and I think it would be great to have that facility developed in future years.”
