There seems to be some confusion over who is in charge of the mental health services for Kilkenny, Carlow and South Tipperary.
The HSE says there is ‘ no change to the Executive Clinical Director’ for the local mental health services.
But Minister Kathleen Lynch claimed last week that Clinical Director Frank Kelly had been replaced.
General Secretary of the Psychiatric Nurses Association Des Kavanagh says there are questions that need to be answered.
The Minister has also defended the local services against recent criticisms saying there are no resource issues.
But a former HSE psychiatrist in South Tipperary Alan Moore told Sue Nunn the Minister needs to ‘wake up’ to the problems that exist.
And he said he expects the next reports by the mental health inspectorate will be significant.
