Speaking to KCLR after the match, Kilkenny manager Tommy Shefflin reflected on his side’s performance, acknowledging their strong start but stressed the need for consistency throughout the game.
“They started very well. They just showed what they can do but there’s no point in doing it for half an hour you have to go do it for an hour. That’s our job now to get them up to that level”.
The Kilkenny manager admitted that his team’s errors played a significant role in their defeat, acknowledging the quality of their opponents.
“We made a lot of mistakes and as I said a team like Cork are going to punish you and that’s what they did. Cork are All-Ireland Champions for a reason”.
Kilkenny will welcome Waterford to UPMC Nowlan Park on March 22nd, a match manager Tommy Shefflin knows is crucial for his teams league survival.
“We’ve Waterford at home in two weeks time so you try to win your home matches. At this stage now we’re going to have to try and win any matches that we have left to stay in the league”.
