Costs mount for council with bridge works still suspended

The costs are mounting for Kilkenny county council as an order to suspend work on 2 new bridges in the city remains in place.

Construction works on the controversial new Central Access Scheme bridge and the Ossory Pedestrian bridge were stopped last week following a High court order.

The case returned to the court yesterday but Ms Justice Bronagh O’Hanlon reserved her decision until next Monday afternoon.

It’s means there can be no works to either bridge in the meantime – that comes at a cost of 20 thousand euro a day for the council.
