Council to take action against waste collectors in Carlow

Carlow County Council has started legal proceedings against waste collectors who aren’t fulfilling their duties.

This month’s report by the Council’s Chief Executive says they’ve carried out inspections on more than 240 households to see that they’re correctly disposing of their waste under recently-introduced bye-laws.

However, it says it’s become clear through these inspections that certain authorised collectors aren’t doing the job they should be.

Bagenalstown was one of the areas inspected and local councillor Andy Gladney says he’s been made aware of people having problems with collectors that won’t take their bins because of the contents.
