A carlow councillor has been left frustrated by a lack of progression on the pyrite issue in the county.
Charlie Murphy raised concerns at the latest meeting of councillors where he said there was growing anxiety among residents.
Around 15 homes in the county are waiting to learn if their properties will be included in the national pyrite redress scheme following completed investigations by the housing agency.
Cllr Murphy told KCLR News; “There was a couple of people on, they have pyrite in their houses, it’s been confirmed, and they’re finding it hard to get an exemption on property tax, which I find very strange, there should be a better way of fast tracking or getting them in to exemption because, as you know, if you have pyrite in your house it’s not your fault, you didn’t cause it, and I think it’s very unfair, that there should be a simpler way of getting exemption on property tax with pyrite, it’s shocking really to be honest about it”.
