The councils in both Carlow and Kilkenny have published information on their websites to help people affected by the recent flooding.
The 8 page handbook, which is available on both Carlow and Kilkenny County Council websites outlines the assistance schemes which are available under four specific headings.
They are, House-holders, Small Businesses, Community, Voluntary and Sporting bodies and the Farming community.
The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme is available to assist all people who’s homes are damaged by flooding and who are not in a position to meet costs for essential repairs.
Meanwhile, the Irish red cross society is administering a temporary scheme to provide emergency humanitarian support to small businesses that have been unable to secure flood insurance – it is targeted at small businesses with up to 20 employees.
Community, voluntary and Sporting bodies are also covered under this scheme from the Irish Red Cross.
Finally, the department of Agriculture, Food and Marine has put in place a designated helpline and temporary movement of livestock amongst other assistance measures.
A full list of them, and your eligibility can be found on Kilkenny and Carlow’s county council websites www.kilkennycoco.ie and www.carlow.ie.
