The Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) process was started on nine local properties last year.
TheJournal.ie reports that a mix of derelict houses and land where future housing can be built, 99 in total, were acquired by local authorities across the country in 2025 with 11 county councils listing zero.
Carlow’s listed three properties at Upper Staplestown Road, Bridge Street and Moffett’s Lane in Hacketstown.
While counterparts in Kilkenny began the process on six properties, acquiring one each in Kilkenny, Kilmacow and Callan with two others, in Ballyragget and Goresbridge, at vesting stage which the sixth, in Mooncoin, was ended after its owner undertook remedial action to remove it from dereliction.
