D-Day for Leaving and Junior Cert students in Carlow and Kilkenny as State Exams begin

1,900 Leaving Cert Students and over 2,000 Junior Certs in Carlow and Kilkenny are preparing to sit their first exams this morning.

English Paper 1 is first up for both groups on day one of the state exams.

This afternoon some of the leaving certs will be sitting the written part of their Home Economics exam while the third years will be taking English Paper 2.

Nationally there are 120,000 students sitting their state exams this year.

Teachers’ Unions have reminded pupils to stay calm and focused, and to remember that the exams won’t define them.
