President Higgins has officially opened the 84th National Ploughing Championships
Tens of thousands have descended on Ratheniska today for Day one of the event.
Gardaí say traffic is still heavy around the site – while organisers are urging people to plan for rain in the days ahead.
Theres plenty happening on the 700 acre site apart from the ploughing competitions themselves including agricultural machinery displays, food, fashion and nearly 15 hundred trade stands.
