Defence Minister Paul Kehoe will be in Kilkenny later this morning to review the 57th Infantry Group ahead of their six month deployment to the Golan Heights.
128 men and women, many of them based locally at Stephens’ Barracks, will line out at Kilkenny Castle from 10:15am.
Following speeches they’ll parade from there, along High Street, Bateman Quay, over John’s Bridge, along John Street & onto Ballybought Street.
Gardai advise there’ll be some traffic disruption with rolling road closures along the route and they say the best place to watch the event is near the Review Stand at the Town Hall at about 11:25am.
The troops will deploy on April 4th. For 41 of them this will be their first overseas mission.
