Derek Devoy of Taxi Watch honoured with top national award

The work of a Kilkenny man and his life-saving charity have received national recognition this week.

Taxi-driver, Derek Devoy, founded Taxi Watch in 2014 to help those whom he and his drivers come across – who are feeling depressed or suicidal, to get the help they need.

The charity has grown wings over the last two years with branches formed in Waterford, Clare, Clonmel and talks are also underway to establish Taxi Watch in Carlow.

Yesterday Derek was honoured by receiving the Unsung Hero award at the national Hidden Hearing Heroes Awards in Dublin.

Speaking to KCLR News, Derek says it was nice to get recognition for the work they do.
