Plans to improve road safety on the N78 outside the entrance to the Castlecomer Business Park and the local Tirlan outlet have reached design stage.
It’s also hoped that the speed limit on the N78 will be reduced to 60 kilometres per hour beyond the entrance to the grounds of Erins Own GAA Club.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Pat Fitzpatrick said he is looking forward to seeing enhanced safety measures introduced along such a busy road.
“A lot of people have been campaigning for that, including myself, over a long number of years and we need to see maybe a better entrance to the town of Castlecomber and that that speed limit be reduced, but also a proper entrance to the industrial park at Tirlán and safety features.”
“We’ll be hopeful to see some of that coming forward very soon and that was the word from the area engineer and the word coming back from TII as well.”
