The worst of the weather has passed Carlow and Kilkenny, following the expiration of the Status Orange and Yellow rain warnings.
According to the latest national updates and local outlooks from Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly, the heavy morning downpours are clearing.
A welcome shift to sunny spells and clearing skies is extending across both counties for the remainder of the afternoon.
However, local authorities warn that residual spot flooding and surface water will remain an issue on local roads for the rest of the day.
While skies are brightened up, drivers are still advised to exercise care when navigating low-lying routes this afternoon.
Looking ahead to tonight, conditions are expected to stay largely dry and clear, though turning much cooler as temperatures dip.

“The yellow warning expires at 11 a.m. and the worst of the rainfall will be clearing northeast at that time. It will improve with much brighter weather pushing up from the south for the rest of this afternoon and this evening. We do, however, have some more wet and windy weather ahead, possibly on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a storm in the Atlantic. While the worst of the storm will stay out in the Atlantic, the outer bands could well bring us some spells of very wet and windy weather.” said Alan.
