€40m boost for Carlow and Kilkenny roads from €1.3bn funding package

Over €40million has been allocated for investment in regional and national roads across Carlow and Kilkenny.

The funding comes as part of an overall funding package of €1.3 billion announced today by Minister Darragh O’Brien.

Minister Murnane O’Connor told KCLR News: “I am delighted to welcome significant investment in our regional and national roads This funding will make a real difference in communities right across Carlow and Kilkenny, allowing safer roads for all road users.

“I am particularly delighted to see €450,000 in funding for Leagh Bends included today. This project is critical for road safety and connectivity in Carlow and it is an area I have been raising with the Department of Transport and Transport Infrastructure Ireland for some time. I am keen to see it progress quickly.”

Deputy McGuinness said:

“I very much welcome this important investment in our regional and national road network across Carlow and Kilkenny. This funding will protect and renew critical routes in both counties, ensuring safer travel for motorists, supporting local businesses and strengthening regional connectivity.”

“These works are essential in ensuring that our existing road infrastructure is properly maintained and upgraded where needed. Safety improvements and pavement renewal projects in Carlow will directly benefit road users and local communities.”

Speaking on the announcement, Deputy Cleere said:
“I am delighted to welcome significant investment in our regional and national roads here in across Carlow and Kilkenny. This funding will make a real difference in communities right across the county allowing safer roads and more efficient journeys.

“Investing in road infrastructure is critical for supporting the growth of the local economy,  making daily commutes safer and more efficient and for ensuring the road infrastructure we have is sustained into the future.”
