€66 million euro lotto ticket sold in Easons Carlow

The hunt is on for Carlows newest multi millionaires.
Lotto fever has struck in the town yet again after Easons at Fairgreen Shopping Centre was confirmed this morning as the shop that sold the winning 66 million euro ticket.
It’s the fourth biggest Lotto win in Irish history – the winning ticket was sold on the 27th of January – it was for 15 euro and was a syndicate.

EuroMillions fever has gripped the nation since it was announced that a winning ticket worth €66,188,316 was sold in Ireland for the EuroMillions draw on Friday 29 January 2016. The jackpot on that date was €132,376,632 and Ireland and France shared the jackpot. The lucky ticket was sold on Wednesday 27 January 2016.
Today, the National Lottery confirmed that the Irish ticket was sold in the Eason’s store, Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow. This is the first time this store has sold a jackpot winning ticket.
A lucky syndicate of friends claimed the prize at National Lottery offices yesterday, Thursday 11 February 2016. The winning ticket was €15 in value. This is the largest jackpot win in Carlow to date and brings the total amount won in Co. Carlow, of Lotto and EuroMillions jackpots, to a whopping €110,634,440.
The second largest jackpot won in Co. Carlow was a Lotto jackpot worth €18,963,441, won on 28 June 2008 by the Dan Morrissey syndicate.
This EuroMillions jackpot win ranks as the fourth highest, in terms of size, of EuroMillions jackpots won in Ireland. These include a €115 million win in 2005 (Limerick), a €94 million win in June 2013 (Dublin) and an €86.7 million win in Dublin in September 2014.
