An emergency meeting of Kilkenny County Council is to take place this afternoon to discuss the controversial Kilkenny Central Access Scheme
It was called by Chairman Pat Millea yesterday after the meeting took an unexpected twist during the afternoon.
Yesterdays meeting was due to hold a vote on whether a review of the plans should be taken or not.
Instead it was intimated that there’s a new proposal on the table following the granting of permission of a ring road for Kilkenny last week.
It would involve running a new road from the Castlecomer Road, through the mart site and into the brewery site avoiding Vicar Street altogether.
The decision was taken to hold an emergency meeting of the council today to discuss it.
Its not known whether the vote on the review will now take place or will the meeting be taken up by the new direction of the council.
