Farmers across Kilkenny and Carlow are starting their 24-hour protest around now.
The Irish Farmers’ Association has called on all farmers to protest against low beef prices.
They are protesting at the 350 euro per head price gap with Ireland’s main export market in the UK.
Farmers across all counties will demonstrate outside their local meat factories where gates will be blockaded.
Speaking to KCLR News, Chairperson of Carlow IFA, Derek Deane expects up to 200 farmers in Carlow to participate.
Meanwhile Chairperson of Kilkenny IFA, John Bambrick, said the factories are playing a foolish game with prices.
