Farmers have taken their Mercosur protest to Strasbourg today.
Opposition to the trade deal between Europe and south American countries will be voice outside the European Parliament.
The plan has yet to be officially ratified.
IFA President and Laois man Francie Gorman is among those involved and says the agreement’s not a ‘done deal’, noting; “It’s our job to represent our members’ views and they’re quite clearly opposed to this deal and I believe that it can be stopped at European Parliament level and we’re here in Strasbourg today for a protest organised by the French Farmers’ Union and COPA in opposition to this deal when the vote comes up on the court case tomorrow and then subsequently when they finally vote on the deal”.
Meanwhile, hear what local farmers had to say to KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes about Mercosur and more here. While others reactions are here.
