Fears that combining local library services will be bad news for Carlow

Carlow services will lose out if decisions are being made in Kilkenny.
That’s according to Sinn Féin Councillor John Cassin in relation to the proposed amalgamation of the two library services.
The plans would see one librarian for all 12 branches across the two counties.
It was announced on Friday by trade union, IMPACT, that the 50 staff are to be balloted for industrial action in the coming weeks.
The issue was raised by Councillor Cassin at this month’s meeting of Carlow County Council.
