The vast majority of community, not-for-profit childcare providers will not be financially viable due to the new Pobal audits.
That’s according to the Director of the Fr McGrath Family Resource Centre.
The audits, which were carried out recently, found some children start late or were picked up early by parents and therefore need to be re-registered in their part-publicly funded community childcare schemes.
There are fears now that this will result in tens of thousands of euro in cuts to teh not-for-profit, community-run childcare sector.
A meeting for Carlow and Kilkenny providers parents to discuss the issue has been arranged for next Monday evening (March 11th) at the Neighbourhood Hall on Butts Green at 7.30.
Stephen Murphy’s been telling KCLR News that it’s caused a crisis across the country.
