Barnardos Chief executive Fergus Finlay says he has never seen anything quite like the ‘appalling conditions’ at St Catherine’s halting site in Kilkenny.
Mr Finlay has launched a full report into the Wetlands site in the city this lunchtime.
KCLR revealed last week how the study had concluded a breach of human rights in respect of the living conditions for children at the site.
Fergus Finlay visited the site this morning.
Meanwhile Kilkenny county council has issued a statement this lunchtime saying it will continue to work with other statutory agencies to deliver a comfortable and safe environment for the residents of St Catherines.
It says developing the site is a core objective of the Kilkenny Traveller inter-agency group and plans to build dedicated housing units for the families there have already been brought forward.
