Works to improve the Abbey Road in Ferrybank have “been held up for a couple of months” in the absence of an agreement which requires Waterford City & County Council’s co-signature.
Addressing the Piltown Municipal District’s monthly meeting, Area Engineer John Tennyson said that preliminary design drawings are being discussed for both the Abbey and Belmont Roads but cannot proceed without Waterford’s co-operation.
Speaking to KCLR News, Municipal District Chair Pat Dunphy said he hoped that the neighbouring authority would come to the table promptly: “Kilkenny are looking to meet Waterford to sign off on that so works can progress on those roads, they can move on further on the planning and that and somehow or other can’t get a meeting.”
“This is going on as the engineer said there may be five or six months. So we could have been maybe more advanced at this stage but it’s stalled until that section 85 is signed off by both.”
