Fine Gael’s Mary Hilda Cavanagh rejects claims her party “bottled” decision on property tax
Kilkenny Fine Gael Councillor Mary Hilda Cavanagh says there was no point in their party voting for a rise in the property tax as it would have been defeated anyway.
She has reacted after Green Councillor Malcolm Noonan accused them of bottling the decision despite outlining the effects it will have on local services beforehand.
Fianna Fáil have the majority of votes so even if Fine Gael voted for a rise, it would have been defeated.
Councillor Cavanagh says there was no point voting for a lost cause despite knowing the consequences.
