A Kilkenny city fisherman had to be rescued from a river in the south of the County on Saturday afternoon.
The man,who was in his mid 50’s, is understood to have been fishing at Dangan wood near Thomastown when the bank he was standing on collapsed under him.
He went into the water but was unable to free himself from the mud and silt
The alarm was raised by two other fishermen who came on the incident and emergency services were called,including Gardai and an ambulance
