A local TD has told the Dáil that flood-hit families and businesses in Carlow and Kilkenny are “fed up waiting” for long-promised support schemes.
Fianna Fails John McGuinness said payments are too slow to reach those trying to rebuild homes and livelihoods after repeated flooding.
He’s calling on the Government to remove obstacles and speed up delivery of all flood relief measures.
“It’s too slow in being delivered, and in terms of farmers losing livestock, one man lost 14 sheep in the flood and he’s having difficulty being included — not included — in the business fund.” said Deputy McGuinness.
“I’ve made a case to the Minister, I believe that he should be looked after, and anyone else that lost their stock should be looked after, It is, after all, a business which runs on a very small margin, and they need the money quickly to replace the stock and to get back into business.” he added.
