Folk/Roots : Interview : John Blek

John O’Connor (aka John Blek) is a regular and popular visitor to Kilkenny. He and his band (The Rats) have amassed many fans on their various trips. He took some time on his own to work on a solo album and it’s more than a distraction from his band…it is a fine piece of work and stands out on its own. It’s stripped down to the bone which makes the songs shine and highlights the more delicate side of his voice.

He dropped in to Rollercoaster Records for a solo acoustic set and with a background of tasty violin music, we chatted about the making of the album.
