Pauline Scanlon is one of Ireland’s finest singers and while her roots and heritage is in the fertile tradition of West Kerry, her musical journey has seen her travel far beyond, embracing the music of other traditions, comfortable in many musical styles.
She’s been busy with a variety of projects, most recently “Notify” and with Eílís Kennedy in “Lumiere”. She’s equally conversant with the folk music of New Zealand and Australia, so much so that her solo work has taken something of back seat. It’s a joy to her many fans that this has been rectified and her new album “Gossamer” is a collection of her favorite songs across continents and genres, served by her distinctive vocal style.
Pauline and her band will play the the Set Theatre on May 29th and she took time out to chat about this latest album and her other projects. It features three tracks from the album also.
