Folk/Roots – Studio 2 Sessions – The Remedy Club (19/9/2017)
It’s always great to renews past acquaintances and so it was a special delight to welcome Aileen Mythen and KJ McEvoy to Studio 2. I would have played their music in different contexts over the years but on this occasion they were in as The Remedy Club. While I didn’t discover the origin of the band name I did hear about their latest album “Lovers, Legends and Lost Causes”. It’s been a while in the making but it was worth the wait.
You can hear the care and attention in every track and it’s collection of fine songs, played by a great coming together of musicians. Vocally, their contrast and blend of styles and timbres draw the listener in and the lyrics complete the effect. It’s as damn fine an album as I’ve heard this year.
We hear a live track “Sweet White Lies” and two tracks from the album
The launch is due, details here and you find out more about The Remedy Club here
