One of Kilkenny’s most well-known former county hurlers is to be honoured with the Freedom of the City today.
Eddie Keher is being recognised at a ceremony in Kilkenny Castle this evening.
The Inistioge man has six All-Ireland, 10 Leinster, and three League medals to his name after an inter-county career that spanned almost 20 years.
He was told before Christmas that he was to get the Freedom of the City and he’s told KCLR News it’s something he’s been looking forward to.
He says this honour in particular will stand out from all the rest because it takes into account not just his sporting prowess but all the other work he has done, including for charity, throughout his life.
