Former Kilkenny hurler promoted to rank of Brigadier General in Irish Defence forces

A Kilkenny man’s being promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the Irish Army today.
Kilkenny Hurling All-star and two time celtic cross winner Kieran Brennan will be the new General Officer Commanding 1 Brigade.
The former commander of Stephen’s Barracks in Kilkenny has thirty nine years service and served abroad in Kosovo, Chad, and Lebanon twice.
He will take command of the Defence forces southern 1 Brigade and will be in charge of thousands of troops.
