A former Kilkenny TD, councillor and Mayor will be granted the Freedom of the City today.
Fine Gael’s Kieran Crotty was first elected to the county council in 1967 before winning a seat in the Dáil in 1969 where he remained a TD for the next 20 years.
The ceremony takes place this evening in the Picture Gallery of Kilkenny Castle at 7 o’clock.
Current Mayor Andrew McGuinness, told KCLR News that Mr Crotty is a worthy recipient of the Freedom of Kilkenny City.
