Free GP care being rolled out to 215,000 newly eligible people today

Free GP care is being rolled out today for 215,000 newly eligible people.

The launch represents the initial phase of a two-part program that aims to deliver free GP care to approximately 430,000 individuals in Ireland.

It’ll be the biggest increase in eligibility for free GP care in the history of the state this year.

Local Kilkenny Councillor John Coonan welcomes the initiative:

“What I think is that it’s terrific to see the threshold increasing because the burden of health services and the expense of health services is increasing as well. To think that in these times that the effort has been directly made to directly intervene to help people financially to avail of health services, that’s a good idea.”
