A woman killed in a crash between a car and a jeep near Bagenalstown yesterday was an American citizen visiting the area.
The lady in her 70’s was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision which happened at Kilcarrig near the cemetery on the Bagenalstown to Fenagh road at 2.45 yesterday afternoon.

The driver of the car – another American lady in her 70’s was taken to hospital with serious injuires. She remains in St Lukes hospital today.
Gardai are attempting to make contact with their families.

Sgt John Foley told KCLR news they are appealing for any information on the crash. Anybody who was in the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact the Gardai in Carlow on 059 9136620.
