83% of those who carry out assaults are men, according to new figures from An Garda Síochána.
The Gardaí have launched their ‘Use Your Brain not Your Fists’ campaign targeting men between the ages of 18 and 39.
According to figures released today the majority of assault victims are also men and the most common time assaults occur is between 8pm and 5am.
Speaking to KCLR News today, Sergeant Kelvin Courtney says the Gardaí, publicans and ordinary people have to work together.
