Gardai will be clamping down on drink and drug driving this St.Stephen’s Day with checkpoints in place across Carlow and Kilkenny.
They’re urging people to not get behind the wheel with alcohol or drugs in their system.
Paul Donohoe is the divisional inspector for Roads Policing in Kilkenny and Waterford.
“The Road Police members will be out all Christmas and we will be doing checkpoints throughout Christmas so our big message to people is to never ever drink and drive.”
“That is so important for people to never ever drink and drive and obviously don’t condone anyone taking drugs but if you do take drugs you could be tested by Gardaí and caught for drug driving as well so we’d ask people never ever to drink or drugs and drive vehicles.”
