Three people lost their lives on Irish roads during the May Bank Holiday weekend last year and as we head for another Gardaí are again out in force in a bid to keep people safe.
While there have been deaths recorded at opposite ends of our two local Garda Divisions this year (Waterford / Kilkenny and Kildare / Carlow), thankfully none have been on routes in our two counties.
Garda Andy Neill has this advice to help prevent further loss of life;
Anybody who witnesses rules being flouted is advised to contact their local Garda Station – in particular if you come across those hanging out of moving vehicles as Garda Neill outlines;
