First on tonight’s show Matt had a conversation with Seán Kelly, MEP for Ireland South, on a variety of issues affecting the Irish farming community including Brexit, glyphosate, the upcoming review of the Common Argicultural Policy and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) .
Matt visited the launch of the 2017 Iverk Agricultural Show which was held during the week at Kildalton College. The show will take place on August 25th. We heard first from Minister Michael Creed and then from show chairman Robert Dowley.
Following the decision of the Glanbia Co-Op shareholders to acquire a 60% ownership of Glanbia’s agribusiness and consumer food divisions we heard from Co-Op Vice chairman Pat Murphy on the next steps and impact.
We then had a most welcome return to the show of George Candler who gave this week’s Kilkenny Mart Report.
