Glanbia Farm Show – 20/4/2017

First on tonight’s show John Bambrick, Kilkenny IFA chairman, joined us in the studio. Under discussion was the upcoming IFA Brexit meeting to be held at Goff’s, Kildare on Monday, April 24th; he also discussed the propose Glanbia Co-Op deal with Glanbia PLC to purchase a majority shareholding in the Agribusiness and the consumer products division and the current state of play as regards plans to close the Regional Veterinary Laboratory in Kilkenny. Adam Woods from the Irish Farmer’s Journal also joined in on the phone discussing the new Journal suckler demonstration farm.

Deirdre Glynn, Environmental and Beef adviser with Teagasc joined us to discuss the details of their upcoming beef suckler event at Cillin Hill which will discuss star ratings, breeding and animal health issues in suckler herds.

A tractor run will take place on Thursday evening, April 27th, organised by pupils in Kilkenny College. We heard from some of the organisers.
