Hazam Faris – is a 19-year-old Palestinian student who was refused permission to come Ireland to study in SETU (Waterford campus) this month. He was on the show early last month. He was awarded a scholarship to study computer science in SETU in Carlow before his visa was denied after being asked to justify education gaps and provide original bank statements. Such requirements have been virtually impossible for students like Hazem to comply with due to the ongoing violence and destruction of infrastructure in Gaza. They are also joined by Dr Sarah Sartori Higher Education Strategic Project Lead at SETU about this. She is based in Carlow and works across the campuses. She supports Hazam Faris. The Visa situation is still ongoing and they are running out of time. SETU has pushed out the start date for Hazem, Sara and Shahd to October 18th, and their appeals are being reviewed. They are having a protest on Campus in Carlow tomorrow, and there will be something similar in Waterford on Wednesday.
