What a thing it is to live in Kilkenny in the All Ireland season! I watched the match from home in Ballyduff. I went for a quick walk around 2pm and there was not a thing stirring- no cars, no people -just the cattle having a quiet chew of the cud while we all waited for the roar of the crowd.
Its done now and in style! History for Henry, joy for all the players panel and back room team. But they really are local heroes. Its been said again and again but these players reach what would be Olympic standard in any other sport but live and work and play amongst us.
For two rural parishes, Tullogher Rosbercon and Inistioge, both beside where I live, the participation of Walter Walsh and Kieran Joyce in the 2012 All Ireland Hurling final will go down in history and inspire youngsters for generations to come!
There is lots of audio on this our KCLR website including our great commentary with Brendan Hennessy, Michael Walsh and Pat Treacy . Check out “highlights” on this page. You can hear the great DJ Carey with his assessment of the day and Captain Eoin Larkin and the impressive Walter Walsh whose Granny started the Tullogher Rosbercon Camogie club and whose cousins are Olympic athletes Joanne and Catriona Cuddihy.
CATS!!!!
